Thats why I switched to Komodo. Well that and it covers perl and
(among others) as well.

I use vi more than anything. But comparing vi or emacs to an IDE is
the usual apples to oranges.

True. I haven't found a need to spend tim setting up the ide, setting
the code for debugging or single-stepping.
