Downloading files from a shared drive using IIS/6.0 and PHP 5.1.4

Have everything configured correctly to run on the webserver, but can't
run any of the file commands (file_exists, filesize, etc) because it
claims it can't find the files.
Can anybody offer any help or solutions? How about a helpful solution?
