That's a good thing. Let your visitors decide for themselves. (Topic oft
discussed in these newsgroups.)

Rather than create a situation where you "break their Back button" so
they can't find your site again anyhow, why not just identify links that
go "off-site" with a suitable icon. Such as the one used at Wikipedia. I
was just looking at the following page:
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_of_Mozilla_Firefox>
Scroll down to the "References" and see the icon next to external links.

When your visitor has a maximized browser window, your new window will
completely cover the original, and they will have a non-functioning Back
button. So what to they do? Go back to google and find someplace else to
surf. Later, when they are tired of surfing, they close the browser, and
... whoops! .. there is YOUR window. But, they are finished so they close
it too.
