It's not complicated after the first week. I d/led XAMPP (which I see
you can get for OS X) and went from there.
I don't keep duplicate full hard coded html pages (never thought of it
- now I'll probably worry about it). Thanks for that.

Tell me about it. <rhetorical>Do you think the PHP manual is
*deliberately* hard to get your head around?</rhetorical> I finally got
a handle on the whole thing via a tutorial at (of all places) a porn
webmaster site at ummm http://www.adultnetsurprise.com/ - but I can't
even find the tutoral there any more. Pity.

Yes. It's easy to forget the hard work that you have to do to get
started. Worth it though.

If all you want to do is put a footer on every page, cut and paste is a
