Thank you Koncept, I can feel in my bones I have progressed now
given these further instructions of yours.
(For the life of me I cannot see why my Spotlight does not dig
httpd.conf file out. It simply won't. But no matter, you have
given me a brilliant way of finding stuff - I better read up on
this stuff to know how to generalise it!)
So, I found it and I did what you said next in uncommenting and
also next, and as for the last bit, yes, there it was and I
removed the hashes from that bit too.
And saved (and also saved a copy of the original file with a
different name in case I need to go back to square one - though
it would be on my DVD install)
As for your restarting instructions, there were complicated
puzzling things. I tried putting in my http address as listed in
system preferences panel under file sharing. And even made a copy
of an index.html with a .php extension. The result was that the
server is working ok as it fetches all the .html pages fine. But
it still does not replace includes with the appropriate html. As
for calling up the .php index file, it just displayed it as the
source code rather than as a webpage proper.
But I am getting closer now, I can smell success... where is that
smell coming from exactly though?
(Just one thing I need to address, I want all .html files to be
read for their includes. For now, I am keeping it simple and
assuming all my files have includes. I have not yet addressed
this little issue. If I have missed a remark of yours that
addresses this, forgive me.)
