Doctors can be evil. Nurses and "technicians" (vo-tech grads who never
even went to college, let alone med school) can be even worse. They do
similar stuff to burn patients: Strap them starked naked to a metal
"bed", lower that into a pool of water, and then scrub the burns with
gauze. Ever touched a burn? Hurts like hell, doesn't it? Well,
imagine having it SCRUBBED with what amounts to sandpaper. They do that
to remove the dead skin, but they can't help but scrub exposed living
tissue at the same time. The result is that it feels like you're being
burned all over again. They don't give you anything except maybe an
aspirin (afterwards). But they strap you down, because you'll be in so
much pain that you won't be able to hold still. You will cry and scream
and beg them to stop or at least knock you out, but you will be ignored.
If they're in a bad mood, they might tell you to shut up. This will
happen evey day until your wounds start to heal, which can take a while
since they get scrubbed so much. If you ever get burned, pray for the
sweet release of death to come quickly. Or at least that you get taken
to a hospital where they will give you morphine or something before your
daily Hell Bath.
