Thanks, that probably is a factor on this machine. It's my development
machine, but it annoyingly has a network drive attached to it
(physically) that gets accessed by other users :(

That's a good idea. Is it possible to simply *disable* the logs for a
database? The reason being that as this is a development server I'm not
remotely bothered about stats :)
