First of all, you're over-complicating it. All you really need is
something like this:
<form action="">
<button style="width: 96px; height: 32px"
onclick="window.close()">Close</button>
</form>
Second of all, you really should be asking questions that only apply to
JavaScript in news:comp.lang.javascript.
