I'm not aware of *any* company that hires programmers who don't yet know
how to program. It's just not a field that lends itself well to OJT.

But you're probably right. I have noticed that experience and
competence aren't the highest priorities for large corporations. Towing
the corporate line can cover a LOT of shortcomings.
