applications that you can run on it? How does software developing
differ from text processing or image rendering in terms of CPU load?

Even the most cheap laptops today have much more power and possibilities
than my local server, which works perfectly well. Software development
means nothing for the CPU, it's running idle cycles most of the time.

Maybe you could ask this idiot what would happen on an AMD box. And then
_definitely_ change your hardware supplier, because this guy doesn't
really know what he's talking about.
