Perhaps this:
%%repeat%%<tr><td>%var1%</td><td>%var2%</td><td>%var3%</td></tr>%%repeat%%

Then you could maybe use some kind of callback / back-reference
thingie in that preg_ thingie... yeah, okay, so that part I'm not
real clear on. :-)
