....except Front Page. "Once in Front Page, always in Front Page".
Front Page sites are incompatible (from a designer standpoint) with
'ordinary' web design, inasmuch as you cannot just FTP your updates,
like from anywhere, but you MUST use a client FrontPage program with
your entire site on it. This is a problem when you need to update a
site while you are traveling, or when you (or the next designer after
you) wants to use a regular editor to alter pages. The site ends up
having to be re-created from scratch.
Further, FrontPage client generates HTML code which is sent to the
server, and altered by the Front Page server program. You may -think-
you've created a table, but you actually end up with something quite
different. This will create some consternation in the future.
Front Page is part of the Office Suite, and "everyone has it", so it has
become a popular authoring tool, which helps cement its nonstandard way
of doing things. I am not aware of other programs which do this (but I
will certainly be told in this thread of others! :)
My experience with FP is to stay =far= away.
