Nope. You need some semicolons (;). So, these would become:
$order = "DESC";
$order = "ASC";
> switch ($page) {
> case "news":
> $order = "DESC"
> break;
> case "articles":
> $order = "ASC"
> break;
> }
> mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY id $order ");
The rest of it looks fine to me.
