There are a few weird things with references (&) in PHP 4 that won't work
in PHP 5, I think -- Or, more likely, if you are relying on the behaviour
of references versus actual objects, and which one you are changing, and
their interaction with &, you could get bit...
The OP does sound a lot more like register_globals, though, than object
references gone haywire.
