The cpdf_open() function opens a NEW pdf document. The first parameter
turns document compression on if it is unequal to 0. The second optional
parameter sets the file in which the document is WRITTEN...
pdf_open_file ( resource pdfdoc, string filename): manual
Create a NEW PDF file using the supplied file name.

You can create a PDF document, but there is no way to re-open it!!
