Bah! Flash has one big problem. Macromedia has available plugins for
IE and Netscape and a Flash extension *is* available for Firefox but I am
unable to find a *standalone* program on their site to play *.swf files
that I download with my usual browser, lynx, that doesn't support
plugins. Apple's Quicktime player can play some of the older *.swf files
but most of them that I encounter now generate an "Invalid media" dialog
box when I try to play them with Quicktime.
Every one of Macromedia's download pages that I have found tell me to
choose "Netscape" or "Internet Explorer" to get the alleged right player.
ATTENTION, MACROMEDIA: HOW ABOUT A *.SWF PLAYER THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A
[bleep]ING BROWSER?
