I'd still say switch hosting companies. Hope you didn't pay a year in
advance!

I also don't think I'd use one of thiner home-grown packages. Rather,
I'd want to use one which has been around for a while - dadamail
(formerly mojomail), listserv and majordomo are three I know of.

I use dadamail - but I have my own server so I can set it up any way I
want. But it's been a while, and I don't remember if I really needed
root access or not to get it going. You might check it out -
