Look at imagecreatefrom(_arbitrary_image_)() & imagecopyresampled().

Pixels Per Inch is useless on the web. Matching PPI will only result in
resampling. Web = pixels (/or related ny % em etc.). Inches are not related
to cimputer screeens.

It doesn't care. It's pixels.
