Just to comment on Dreamweaver with PHP (which I also use):
1) Edit everything in TEXT/code view. Don't be tempted to use "Design"
view - it will just confuse you! The inbuilt code colouring functions
and the handful of PHP menu widgets are fine for starters.
2) Don't even think of using any of the Dreamweaver "dynamic" data
things. They can go wrong big time and (as you're a beginner) you
won't know where to start to fix things.
I think DW with *a good PHP book* would be the best way to learn.
