Along with this idea I want to state the following as one who has looked for
work and who has hired people to work for me.

Let us suppose, just for the sake of argument, that Tony is correct in his
opinion. Would I hire him to work for me? The answer is an unequivocal
"no". Why do I say this? I say this because:

(a) I want people who are willing to adapt to new ideas
(b) I want people who are willing to listen to the ideas of others and adapt
them as their own if they are better
(c) I want people who are willing to use the ideas of others, even if they
disagree with them, if the project calls for it.
(d) I want people who LISTEN to what others are saying about the errors of
the arguments they are presenting and not ignore them or distort them.

but most of all, since most software project are composed of many
programmers,

(e) I want people who understand what a TEAM is, and not insult others when
their ideas differ from their own.

I would NEVER hire someone like Tony -- and if I did then, unlike Tony, I
would quickly admit my mistake and show him the door.
