I am questioning as to "why should sitemap (on a particular site, in
this case your's) be in the form of an ellipse"

I am not worried about my site at all. I don't have sitemap at all but
is still navigable (oh well new poetry pages are under-construction, but
even then I don't think I need a sitemap so far)
