What's an "XHTML document" ? If you mean a local XML document, then
why not use XHTML 1.1 ? If you mean a web-published document then for
certain you need to lose that XML declaration:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
as it breaks far too many web user agents.

Where are the lang and xml:lang attributes ?
