Jim,

No, PHP is a programming language, not a database. It does, however,
interface with several databases.

The MySQL interface works quite well. I highly suggest you use it; it
will be a lot more reliable than CSV files - which can cause problems if
two or more pages are accessing them concurrently, for instance. And
the code to handle this concurrency is a lot more complicated than a few
SQL statements.

Maybe you should try emailing TimeWarner from a TW account. I have
Comcast here, and have an account on it - although I never use it. You
probably have one (or at least access to one), also.

Or, as I mentioned, Google Groups will get you there.

And yes, you're talking an Apache configuration question. But there
isn't a DATA_ROOT directory. Remember, to Apache, everything is "data".
Just some have to be processed more than others.
