I tried out a lot of free editors, and found them only slightly
better than a text editor. They have a LOT of bells and
whistles - but they weren't features I really wanted.

Zend Studio cost me $250 - but it really was worth it. The
license is for a lifetime, and it's the only one I evaluated
that had the kind of features I liked.

Code completion, database browsing, and inline debugging cannot
be beat.
