In the case of what I posted, it was a simple single line formula:
>> var rgb : String = "0x" + ((r*256+g)*256+b).toString(16);
that you quoted and misread.
For the reply by another person (jasen, who you seem to think is me, you
must have misread) you simply misunderstood that the very plain English
phrase 'add them all up'. Surprisingly, that means to add up ALL the values
... ie all THREE values (ie the red that you multiplied by 65525, the green
you multiplied by 256, and the blue). Perhaps, in hindsight, given your
obvious problem in understanding the very basics, Jasen could have been more
explicit. I can only assume he thought he was communicating to someone who
had some reasonable amount of ability and understanding and a grasp of the
english language.
Please .. don't blame your own lack of ability to read simple formulas and
textual explanation on me (or others who you think are me). Especially as
you then accuse those others of misreading and skmming your own incomplete
(and often offensive) posts.

It has nothing to do with compressing the image either. You still don't
seem to understand. Its just a way to express the red green and blue values
for a color into a single simple human-readable string. If you're doing
image processing, you would never need to convert to and from hex strings as
part of the processing, as you can work directly with the rgb values (as
either individual bytes, or as 24-bit words).
Also the conversion to and from hex has nothing to do with premultiplied RGB
values. That is purely an performance optimisation technique for image and
color manipulation. Something you claim to know about, but your response
here indicate to the contrary.
