Upgrading a modded phpBB is tricky.
1) You could try the patch files which phpBB provides. If your local
phpBB is not changed too much an update should work. (Try with a copy
first !!!)
2) Get a program like WinMerge, and upgrade your files manually.
However this needs some understanding of php and what the mods
actually did.
Nevertheless, before you do an upgrade check, if the mod is supported
by the new version.
3) Get the new version of phpBB and add your mods again ...
