Umm, logs have nothing to do with stats.

Logs are vital to disaster recovery and insuring ACID for your DB.

That said, for a DEVELOPMENT DB, you can use simple DB recovery which
truncates the log at the end of transactions. It doesn't prevent
transaction logging however.
