Paranoid stupidity, that's what's affecting you, Dribbles. There is
no such thing as "absolute security", even if your dumbass disables
JavaScript. Your only real solution to such paranoia is simply to not
go on the Internet at all (and crazy as it sounds I've actually known
people like that). Security though is only as important as what you
have to lose. Something like a spyware or adware infection is quite
easily dealt with if you know what you're doing. Hell on my system I
can instantly restore everything to a perfect working state using one
of the drive images I created. Doesn't take more than a couple
minutes to restore, doesn't take more than a couple minutes to create
it. Paranoia induced fear is not solved by sticking your head in the
sand and hoping it will go away, it's solved by FACING YOUR FEARS and
then finding a way of dealing with them in a manner that DOES NOT
hinder what you can view online.
Although in this case your fear is hardly justified. The actual
likelihood of encountering a security risk via JavaScript is not high
and if you practice safe browsing it's near impossible.
Also, one other thing that you should keep in mind is that just
because there is a vulnerability, doesn't mean that anyone is actually
making use of it. Most scam artists for example wouldn't take the
fucking bother to try and get at you with a malicious JavaScript, not
when it's so much easier to prey upon the hapless stupid with email
messages saying shit like, "click here to update your account
information or your account will be deleted!"
YOU are your own biggest vulnerability, Kiddo. So worry about your
own dumbass, not about the JavaScript, that's not yer problem.
