I'm running Linux and Quanta Plus is fantastic for PHP editing/site
management (combines lots of tools)

The other one is a code comparison tool for Gnome called Meld, very
well done visual interface to compare files as well as similar
directory trees.

Other then that Google is probably the best PHP programmer reference
tool out there.
