Both are perfectly valid. From the HTML spec:

| By default, SGML requires that all attribute values be delimited using
| either double quotation marks (ASCII decimal 34) or single quotation
| marks (ASCII decimal 39). [...]

The same applies to XML and its derivates (it's in the spec as well).

So you can use both, whatever fits best. I use one or the other as
necessary, simply in order to avoid the escaping.
