Well, the fact that your HTML dos not even validate means that you are
throwing UA's into quirks mode, which is a bit of a gray area for
makeing stuff work correctly. Run your page through http://validator.w3.org
and fix all the errors. Then if you still have problems come back here
and ask for help.
