Yes, the content-type meta tag was set to

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

I changed it to

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"
/>

and test number 1 worked okay.
