well, your web server may not be configured to run php. Try a simple
page with just the following:

<html>
<body>
<?php
phpinfo ();
?>
</body>
</html>

save the file as test.php. Move the page to your web site (local or
remote) and display it from your browser. If it doesn't display the php
configuration for your web server, you need to do some admin work or
contact your web host to find out why.
