hi, maybe someone can answer this --- please,

$sql_query = "SELECT * FROM table WHERE some_thingdata =
'$some_partofit'";

can a SELECT statement such as above be crafted, that basically
searches the "some_thingdata" for only part of the stringdata in
there?

That would be cool if someone can show me how that can be done. :-)
