In that case the source code for Swiss Ephemeris would do fine *if* C
language is not a problem. There's a test program (swetest.c IIRC) from
which the way to do many things should be relatively easy to grasp, I
think. I've not done it, though :)
One open source project that uses that approach is Skylendar, but it's
source code is not too clear at the first sight...
