Thanks for the reply. I am using PHP 5.2.0-8. If short tags are turned
off by default (I am using PHP 5.2.0-8), then should this work:

<?php $var = 5; ?>
<!-- other stuff -->
<?php=$var?><br />

It doesn't. Looks like I need to change all occurances of <?=$some_var?
> to <?php echo $some_var; ?>
