I have a question I can't answer by myself. :)

Do I need to use "--with-pic" option when configuring php 4?

I'm going to build it as an Apache 1.3 DSO module and going to
run multiple instances of Apache (under different users). I
use Linux (kernel 2.4.30).

Generally, when one may need to use "--with-pic"?
