Indeed. The net is such a staggeringly powerful device for instant
communication that it seems a waste to use it other than to the max (no pun
intended....).
Also, we have all seen people ask for help because they are on a
time-critical / job-critical project and they have a number of pressures on
their plate in addition to what turns out to be a simple-query-simple-answer
event.
I agree we had no indication of that here, but for all we know the Original
Poster had his boss / girl-friend / pub-mates breathing down his neck -
"embarrassment-critical" we might call the last two... (That's stretching
things a bit, I know, but we've all been there!)
