I doubt it. Let me talk though. I feel like it.
This is what I do. If someone is paying me properly, I open it
in Word (preferably Word 97 because its html save is cleaner)
and save it as a web page and I grab the source file and throw
nearly everything off keeping just paras and headings and some
other stuff depending... I sweat and work the html and I then
make a style sheet and it all looks nice. Why not just grab the
text from the doc? Because there are some helpful time savers,
like lots of acceptable tags and often things like character
codes (that one does not have to then look up!), you *must*
throw all the css soup out, no question...
As for splitting it up, this is really a non problem. You either
save the Word doc in bits from the start and then mark up or
just bit up the long html into whatever natural splits you want.
What do I do if someone is not paying (much) but absolutely
needs it pronto and does not care a fig as long as it appears on
the company computers and the computers of a few of the mates of
the Co? Let me tell you! I save as web page from within Word
2001 on my Mac, I TRY NOT TO LOOK, and I load it up to the
server and it works great! Everyone seems happy but me.
