Since you have the string in question, and the funky character is
non-printable, do this:
<?php
$string = "funky-ass string from Filemaker";
for ($i = 0; $i < strlen($string); $i++){
$c = $string[$i]; //Yes, it's deprecated. Whatever.
$o = ord($c);
if ($o < 65) echo "Found character with ASCII value: ", $o, "<br />\n";
}
?>
Once you know what the ASCII value is, figuring out what to do about it
gets pretty trivial.
You could also open the files in a Hex editor and find out what the
character is, but the it's not a PHP question :-)
