ok I've tried teh strtr() and it seems to work.. here's the modified code

foreach (array_unique($_terms) as $val) {

$trans[$val] = "<span class='google_highlight'>$val</span>";
}
return strtr($text, $trans);

however tis case sensitive ...

Is there a way around that ??
