Sounds that the MTA has got changed settings which don't allow From: to be
anything else than the same domain as the MTA server is running. This will
still generate a TRUE from mail() even if the mail won't be sent.

The only workaround I know is to set the From: to a valid e-mail from the
webhostings domain and you set your own address in Reply-To:

I would skip this two, good things if you want your mail to be listed as spam.
