I have no problem with being wrong regarding ActionScript, assuming for
the moment that I am. After all, I cannot test its treatment of bracket
notation, as I previously wrote, and I don't use it. However, I take it
that your off-hand remark implies that you both: read the material that
I referenced completely and understood it; and you did actually use what
I suggested properly. What you posted above suggests the contrary.
Have you considered contacting Macromedia to inform them that the
documentation about their own language is wrong?
