Richard, just be aware that there may be some bugs in Jcx software. I
have been using it for almost a month now and found out that
mouse-over-variable is unreliable, but Watch tool works fine. Also the
server may not work the first time you start your debug session, then
you simple close browser and start again and it will work. The syntax
error gives gibberish message, but valid number of offending line.
Generally, the VS.PHP gives VS experience for PHP and JavaScript and
the mentioned bugs are not showstoppers. The price is also friendly.
I looked at some free and commercial IDEs (Zend, ActiveState and few
others) but they do not compare. I did not check Eclipse - wanted to
look for Eclipse with PHP, got me to some german company website and
then I got distracted.
I hope that VS.PHP for VS.2005 will work better than VS.2003 one. Still
have to try it.
