I use Smarty all the time. I configured it for a customer that uses
GoDaddy. The only necessary thing for php.ini was to set the path for
the smarty library. Typically you can do that in a .htaccess file .
However, GoDaddy is generous enough to allow a php.ini at / so I went
that direction. Worst case, I think you'll have to just specify the
full path to the smarty library when creating the object.

PS, good job going with Smarty. I love it's flexibility.
