How did I get Project Manager job in Dublin in the 80s?
I sent 200 cvs and always been turned down.
So I wrote a little stock management suite in C and sent extracts of
the source listing
attached to my CV.

The beauty with PHP is that you can show your muscles directly on the
web.
So start from a domain you know, for instance accounting,
write part of an accounting package in PHP 5, Apache 2, MySQL 5
You'll be surprised how very little knowledge in PHP can get you pages
with a pretty face.
It's the relationnal modelling and SQL that really do the job.
Enlist in lamp forums and mailing lists where really precious tricks
are displayed daily
When you're happy with GUI, security and speed, put your work on the
web
send your resume with an hyperlink to your site
and give me 10% of your first three years income ;-)
