Like you, Erwin, I'm only subscribed to c.l.php. Believe it or not,
my ISP carries alt.php and alt.comp.lang.php but not c.l.php!
Exception to the rule, I reckon.
I chose c.l.php over the others because my impression was that
c.l.php had the most traffic and because it was the one in the comp.*
hierarchy, one of the so-called Big-8 hierarchies.
I think the most noticeable problem with having more than one
newsgroup covering the same topic is multiposting, although I don't see
a problem with crossposting to the three newsgroups, alt.php,
alt.comp.lang.php and c.l.php. Not sure if the alt.* newsgroups have
contributors that c.l.php doesn't have.
