I'm running the Developer Edition of 2005 (previously used Developer Edition
of 2000).

I don't have an exact benchmark, but I'd estimate SELECTs are 50% faster,
both in the Mgmt Studio, and via ODBC linked tables from Access. Admittedly
my tables are small (few thousand records), but I can definitely tell a
difference.
