Hi All,
I wouldn't normally post this here, since this isn't *quite* the
appropriate place, but I think the quality of responses will be better.
There is an internship for a Web and Database Technician available at
NASA/Ames Research Center for the Environmental Services Branch. The
position is for developing and maintaining internal tools and sites
supporting the Environmental group.
Requirements: You *must* be able to answer yes to all of these.
1. US Citizen (No greencards)
2. Enrolled college student (If you are taking fall classes, that
counts as enrolled)
3. Willing to work part time during the school year.
4. Able to work in Mountain View, California (No Telecommuting).
This is a rather informal posting, so this is rather brief and from the
hip:
Job Description:
Develop and maintain PHP/MySQL web applications.
Admin (Gentoo) Linux Servers.
Maintain and update HTML websites.
Plus the standard web dev tasks.
Technical Requirements:
SQL and Database Design skills.
Object Oriented Programming skills.
PHP or equivilent language. (Java, Perl, Python, etc)
Bonuses for:
Software Design Patterns
XML, Javascript, AJAX, shell scripting
Server installation, maintainance, and upgrades.
This is an intern position, so you aren't *expected* to be some sort of
guru (of course, it certainly doesn't hurt, either). You MUST be able
to meet the requirements at the top, though, those are center and
employment requirements

PS: Coincidentally, I'm looking for a new job. If any of you (cough,
Jerry, Tony, Chung, cough) know of hiring companies, it'd be much
appreciated if you told me about them or vice versa (resume:
