The only "advantage" I can recall is in those languages which do not use
symbols to tell the difference between constants, variables, functions and
methods, so programmers have created conventions using different case to
help them tell the difference. PHP has no such difficulty, therefore the use
of different case is totally unnecessary.

It is not opinion, it is FACT. Any programmer can look at PHP code and tell
when a token is a constant, a variable, a function or a method without the
use of diferent case. Therefore different case has no relevance in PHP.

OK smart arse. It is my opinion that Visual Basic is not case sensitive. Do
you agree?
